My humble recording Studio consists of a custom built DAW, (Digital Audio Workstation)built using an Intel C2D E6600 Conroe Processor. It has 2GB of Corsair RAM, and an ASUS P5  Motherboard. I use a Radeon Graphics card, and for audio I use a Terratec  DMX6 Fire Soundcard, along with EGO SYS nEAR 05 Bi-amped monitors. There are 2 x SATA Western Digital 80GB 16MB cache Hard Drives in the system. Along with a further Western Digital 250GB 16MB cache SATA Hard Drive for my sample collection. My Son owns GD Computer Solutions, and he built the Computer I now use.  The computer is housed in an Antec P182 case. A modular and near silent case that is idea for the home studio. My setup has also had many tweaks to aid performance. Most of which came from Musicxp.net, a great site for info if you are setting up a PC for audio use.

All my recording is carried out in either REAPER, or in Cool Edit Pro 2 (Now re-named Adobe Audition). All Audio is recorded via a tfprop3, this little unit, a three in one ( Compressor, EQ, Mic preamp with 48v supply) must be the bargain of the Century. For FX I often turn to the Kjaerhus classic series of plugins. A great set of plugins and FREE !

This is a fantastic portable unit that gives great control over many aspects of the creative process. It can be used via MIDI or USB connections. It has standard sized velocity sensitive keys together with plenty of knobs, buttons and sliders for controlling software, and so is ideal for my needs.
